Duty Well Done Brings Happiness.
So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?--Ecclesiastes 3:22, NKJV
THOSE WHO ARE ALWAYS BUSY, and go cheerfully about the performance of their daily tasks, are the most happy and healthy. The rest and composure of night brings to their wearied frames unbroken slumber. The Lord knew what was for man's happiness when He gave him work to do. The sentence that man must toil for his bread, and the promise of future happiness and glory, came from the same throne. Both are blessings.--Testimonies for the Church, vol. 2, 529.
Let us remember that while the work we have to do may not be our choice, it is to be accepted as God's choice for us. Whether pleasing or unpleasing, we are to do the duty that lies nearest. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..." Ecclesiastes 9:10...
We are to look upon every duty, however humble, as sacred because it is a part of God's service. Our daily prayer should be, "Lord, help me to do my best. Teach me how to do better work. Give me energy and cheerfulness. Help me to bring into my service the loving ministry of the Saviour."--The Ministry of Healing, 472, 474.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might;
for there is no work or device of knowledge
or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
--Ecclesiastes 9:10, NKJV
The sleep of a laboring man is sweet,
Whether he eats little or much;
But the abundance of the rich will not permit him to sleep.
--Ecclesiastes 5:12, NKJV
